Terms of Service

Welcome to BetterCampus. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our browser extension, websites, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using BetterCampus, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. These Terms apply to all users of the Service.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
Description of Service
BetterCampus is a browser extension and web-based service that enhances the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) experience. Our Service provides features including but not limited to:
- Custom themes and visual customization
- Assignment tracking and organization tools
- Calendar synchronization
- Productivity widgets and tools
- Grade tracking and GPA calculation
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, with or without notice.
User Accounts and Registration
Some features of the Service may require you to create an account. When creating an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information
- Maintain and promptly update your account information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that you have permission from a parent or guardian.
User Responsibilities
You are responsible for your use of the Service and any content you create or share through it. You agree to use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
You acknowledge that BetterCampus is a third-party tool that integrates with Canvas LMS. You are responsible for complying with your educational institution's policies regarding the use of third-party tools and services.
Intellectual Property
The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by BetterCampus and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
Our trademarks, logos, and service marks may not be used without our prior written consent. All other trademarks appearing in the Service are the property of their respective owners.
License to Use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use.
This license does not include any right to: (a) resell or commercial use of the Service; (b) collection and use of any product listings or descriptions; (c) derivative use of the Service or its contents; (d) downloading or copying account information; or (e) use of data mining, robots, or similar data gathering tools.
Prohibited Activities
You may not use the Service to:
- Violate any laws, regulations, or third-party rights
- Engage in any fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading activities
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
- Upload viruses or malicious code
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Remove or modify any copyright or proprietary notices
Third-Party Services
The Service may integrate with third-party services, including Canvas LMS and Google Calendar. Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for the availability, content, or practices of third-party services. Any interaction you have with third-party services is solely between you and that third party.
Disclaimers and Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
- The results obtained from using the Service will be accurate or reliable
- Defects in the Service will be corrected
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BETTERCAMPUS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRIOR TO THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE LIABILITY, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless BetterCampus and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorney's fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including without limitation if you breach these Terms.
You may terminate your account at any time by discontinuing use of the Service and uninstalling the browser extension.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Effective date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, providing additional notice (such as through the Service or via email).
Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Miscellaneous
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and BetterCampus regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, that provision will be removed and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights. The section titles are for convenience only and have no legal or contractual effect.
